The city of Aigio is built amphitheatrically on a hill overlooking the Corinthian Gulf is the second largest city after Achaia, after Patras. A special feature of the city of Aigio is the lush central square of High Alonia with the neo-Gothic tower (1900) - formerly a Weather Station and Heros memorial. Katakolo is a beautiful seaside town with a rich history. The port of Katakolo was built in the 19th century for the export of raisin to Europe. Today, the buildings of the raisins have been restored and converted into cafes and tavernas. It is the second port of cruise ships approaches after that of Piraeus. Katakolo and the surrounding area are a beautiful tourist resort combining mountain, green and sea. Within small distance are Pyrgos, capital of the prefecture of Ilia and the ancient Olympia.

Trizonia a secret Greek Island little paradise

Trizonia is a green island unknown to many people! This island has many peculiarities such as having a beautiful natural harbor, luxurious boats and sailing boats. It is the only inhabited island of the Corinthian Gulf with cars banned except for small electric cars. Access is possible with the small  boats that make the itinerary in 5 minutes. The island is an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility, but there are traditional taverns, restaurants cafes and a few accommodation available. We are visiting this secret paradise again and, of course, we take a swim in the spotless beaches. We also visit the nearby picturesque village of Marathias and the city of Nafpaktos.
